About Us

We design, shape, and nourish greenscapes within existing ecosystems

OurPeople

Contemporary Landscapes was formed in 2005 as a partnership between lifelong friends and landscape professionals, Jack D’Arcy and Caleb Nicholson. Both are graduates of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and possess the highest degree of skill and artistry as masons and landscape designers.

Caleb Nicholson previously held a seat on the Conservation Commission for the Town of Oak Bluffs and has extensive experience presenting plans to the various Town Boards on the island and obtaining permits in environmentally sensitive areas. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture and also was awarded a scholarship to the Edinburgh College of Art. As a designer, he can take your ideas and turn them into a construction ready set of plans.

Jack D’Arcy has 35 years of field experience as a stone mason, project manager and construction supervisor. His eye for detail and passion for his work are well known on the island. Jack holds an active MA Construction Supervisors License and his knowledge of the building code when implementing facets of architectural hardscape is invaluable to our team.

WhyUs

Through the shared vision of Jack and Caleb, CLMV is an island leader and one of the most progressive users of renewable energy concepts and environmentally conscious building and design.

Incorporated in our projects are roof gardens, the most up to date water retention systems, total soil and plant health programs, and erosion control.

These exemplify the compatibility of responsible stewardship of our island eco-system and creation of a landscape of breath-taking beauty.
